Romeo 'Mandorli' Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Organic 2013
Romeo ‘Mandorli’ Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Organic 2013
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Tuscany, Italy
Massimo Romeo loves his land the wines he produces from it. Surprisingly few wineries have adopted organic farming methods in Montepulciano, but for Massimo, there was no question about it. He knows Montepulciano’s wines better than most in the area, he used to be the president of the Consorzio. He makes some of the area’s best wines from his small estate that sits on a small hill. His wines are divine and his production is quite low.
The complex nose on this wine boasts notes of rose, iris, new leather, balsamic and red berry alongside an earthy aroma of damp soil. Like the nose, the smooth palate shows prune, dried cherry, dried herb and an earthy hint of salted game with soft tannins and fresh acidity.
Pair it With:
This robust wine and its grippy tannins calls for richer and more savory foods; match it with something with substance (fat). Some of our favorites would be roasted pork shoulder, barbecued beef brisket, braised goat, aged cheddars and parmesans.
Sangiovese, Colorino, Mammolo
