Petrussa Friulano DOC 2017

Based in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeast Italy, Petrussa is one of Italy’s best and most under the radar estates. In 1995, Hilde Petrussa took over for her mother as the head winemaker of the estate. She began to focus on indigenous grapes and making high quality wines with them. She has earned a name for herself doing so.

Tasting Notes:

Also called Sauvignonasse, Friulano is often uniquely high pitched and vibrant, lean, dry, herbaceous and mistaken for Sauvignon Blanc. This example is no exception. The nose is rich with florals and bee pollen. The palate immediately stimulates your tastebuds and makes your mouth water. It is smooth, viscous and juicy. It has a lengthy finish of lemony brightness.

Pair it With:

This is a great wine alongside salads and roasted green vegetables. It is one of the few wines that can stand up to challenging pairings like green beans, artichokes, cabbage and Brussels sprouts.
