Quinta do Quetzal 'Guadalupe' Winemaker's Selection Branco 2017

Vidigueira, Alentejo, Portugal

Quinta do Quetzal is set in the heart of the Alentejo region on the rich slopes of Vidigueira, close to the oldest known Roman winery in Portugal and Spain. The grapes grow on soil rich in Schist, the local mineral stone. While the area around Quinta do Quetzal is generally sunny and warm, its positioning on the foothills of the Serra do Mendro allows cooler air in from the Atlantic ocean. These conditions lead to big variations in temperature, giving the grapes the heat to ripen and the cooling breezes to recover.

Tasting Notes:

The winemaker's selected only the best Antão Vaz grapes from the harvest, resulting in a fresh flavored wine with mineral notes and tons of aromatics. Only part of the wine is fermented in French oak barrel, which gives it a discreet flavor of buttered toast to complement its fruity palate.

Pair it with:

This wine is great with soft cheeses like burrata, yellow squash and summery dishes with ingredients like peas, zucchini, asparagus, sunchokes, mushrooms, truffles and almonds. It's also great with Asian food, creamy pasta dishes and salads.

Grape Varieties:

100% Antão Vaz
