Current itinerary

Day 1 – Bari

We will kick things off with a leisurely walking tour of the historic center of Bari in the late afternoon on Sunday. From there, we will visit a wine bar outside of the historic center, followed by dinner.

Bari is famous for its little old ladies who hand roll their orrechiete pasta. Should we try it? Of course!

Eating, drinking & a little bit of culture from our base in Ostuni - days 2, 3, 4

Our tour has its own daily rhythm. Each day consists of a nice relaxed (not too early) breakfast before we head out for a bit of culture, a wine tasting and a long leisurely lunch.

In the evening, you can explore the beauty and quaintness of Ostuni.

If you are full from today’s lunch, just grab a glass of wine and perhaps a bruschetta from a nearby wine bar.

Day 2 – A wine visit then lunch facing the sea before heading to Ostuni

Our first stop as a group upon leaving Bari will be a visit Mariana at her small winery. The total production is not more than 35,000 bottles. Unlike so many others in the wine business, Mariana and her husband did not inherit any land from their family. Mariana is a hoot and the wines of Pietraventosa are delicious.

We will have then have lunch on the coast at the postcard worthy Polignano a mare.

After lunch, you can explore the town on your own or with our guide. We will get together again to visit the incredible workshop of artist and instant friend, Peppino Campanella. Finally, we will make our way to white village on the hill of Ostuni, which will be our base for the next 3 nights.

You are free to enjoy your evening in Ostuni.

Day 3 – Truly special Trulli

If you are not familiar with the term Trulli or haven’t seen one up close, you are in for a treat. Stunning in its simplicity. Of course it is crowded, but I don’t think you can come all the way to Puglia and miss out on this experience.

Wine and lunch – We are going to have lunch today in a restaurant in a little village with few tourists. Everything is handmade and local under the watchful eye of Stefano.

This evening, we will have a wine tasting in Ostuni with the personable, always smiling, Graziana.

Day 4 – A charming village and your next wine stop

A little culture – We are suckers for an enchanting hilltop village. Puglia has its share. We are going to visit one of our favorites today.

Lunch and a wine tasting – We are going to have lunch in the village today. From there, we will make our way to a nearby winery where you will get a chance to experience what makes rose from Puglia so different from other places.

You are free to enjoy your evening in Ostuni.

Day 5 – making our way to Lecce, by way of pottery and wine

We are making our way to the bustling, beautiful town of Lecce today (the Florence of the south as they say).

Our first destination upon leaving Ostuni is the ceramic town of Grottaglie. You will get to see firshand what a labor of love it is to make ceramics by hand.

From there, we will make our way to a winery that has vines that nearly reach into the sea. Of course, primitivo and negroamaro are on the wine menu. We will have lunch at nearby restaurant before making our way to Lecce.

Day 6 – Lecce and wine

We will have a walking tour of Lecce after breakfast.

The sheer number of palazzos in the town will amaze you.

We are heading out to a wine tasting and lunch this afternoon at another small producer who is making some of the more elegant wines In Puglia. You may catch Stanley Tucci on site!

Day 7 – Otranto and the sea

In Puglia, you must get on to the water to appreciate the land.

Are you in the Caribbean? Nope, Southern Italy near the heel of the boot. It will be a special way to commemorate our last full day together.

Day 8 – Buon viaggio

We will leave Lecce and first go to Brindesi before making our way to Bari.
